AVERY RANCH CAVE TOURS - Starting January 17, 2015

On Saturday, April 12, 2004 the Texas Cave Conservancy hosted the last CAVE DAY event. We would like to thank the 12,000+ visitors that attended the twenty CAVE DAY events.

Starting on January 17, 2015, the Texas Cave Conservancy will start hosting our special Avery Ranch Cave tours. These tours will be by reservation only and will be limited to approximately twenty visitors per hour.

Since the Texas Cave Conservancy started off as a caver organization, these tours will be presented from the Texas caver point of view. Following a general introduction under the large oak tree, you will follow the caver guide into the cave. With the lower level of light, you will be able to see the cave on as a caver would see it for the first time.

Avery Ranch Cave

Avery Ranch Tour

At the cave preserve, a caver will provide a general introduction about Avery Ranch Cave and Texas caving.

You will be able to see it as a caver would see the cave… with a lower level of light. Even if you have been in this cave before, this will be a completely different experience.

One cave formation character, Old Man Wisdom, will even tell you about his friends. We will light up a carbide light and let it illuminate your surroundings, just as a caver would see it for the first time. Following several demonstrations, we will light up the entire room for your enjoyment.

At the end of the tour, you then may either exit the cave or stay and experience what cavers enjoy while underground. The lights will be lowered and we will sit down and talk about caves and cavers.

These tours will be by reservation only and will be limited to approximately twenty visitors per tour.

Even if you have been in the cave before, you will enjoy this relaxed special visit to one of the most highly decorated small caves in Texas. The Texas Cave Conservancy offers a great cave tour for a reasonable donation.

This is an entertaining-educational tour. We have a minimum age of six years old for these tours. Each tour has been limited to twenty visitors. Please wear appropriate footwear for the stairs (no flip-flops). A cave visit requires the descent of a six-foot ladder, a short “duck under”, and then a walk down a flight of stairs. The cave has decks and lighting.

All tickets will be sold through this site. We only accept debit or credit cards. Hit the “Buy Tickets Now” button to enter your name, e-mail, and ticket information. Following your ticket donation, you will receive an e-mail receipt. Bring this receipt as your ticket.

Please consider the payment as a donation.
Thank you for working with the Texas Cave Conservancy.

The Texas Cave Conservancy also offers special tours for up to 20 visitors for a donation of $150. We can accommodate larger groups as well.
